Another Dexcom Tip

         Today my Dexcom started working and was reading "sensor error" all day. I had no idea how to fix it because every sensor I put on, it would say the same thing. it wasn't until I changed the location of my sensor that it began working again. so, my tip is: sensor errors could be caused by scar tissue build up so I recommend changing your sites frequently to avoid these issues. I hope this helps some people!!

         I've recently discovered a food sensitivity to High Fructose Corn Syrup which is basically in every juice box, snack etc leaving me with limited options when I am low and need to grab something sugary quickly.... 2 new options that are actually tasty and safer for me are Whole Foods brand Gingerale and Honey Stinger energy chews ( available on Amazon). Thank goodness for having healthy options...

         Today marks my 8-year anniversary with Type 1 diabetes and to celebrate, my mom has made me a celebratory dinner with all of my favorite foods and desserts; no limit on carbs either. Whether it's been 1 year,2,3,etc., it's good to celebrate these achievements because they are achievements of survival, strength, and perseverance. It's one more obstacle in your life that you got through and have continued to do so for how many long years you've had it for. Happy diabetes anniversary to me!

         I recently switched from The Dexcom G6 to The Dexcom G7. This change was the best decision ever. I notice more accuracy within my numbers, the site is much smaller, and the warm up time is only 30 minutes. This is so much more convenient for me, especially in situations where I need it to warm up ASAP. additionally, I get a 12 hour grace period in case I'm not home to change it. I really recommend it.

         I recently had an issue where I was unable to bring my diabetic bag Into the stadium... Unbeknownst to me college football games do not allow bags into the stadiums and only some allow clear bags as seen above. Thankfully , there is an exception to the rule.. if you can prove a medical need such as Type 1 Diabetes, you are allowed to bring a small clear bag or ziplock into the stadium. This is helpful except you are limited to a small size bag. Therefore, I downsize my usual necessary items to the most important ones which are as follows... Insulin Pen shot ( in case I am high or my pod or pump fails) BCM and strips to check my number in the event there is a sensor error or failure), alcohol pads, Honey Stingers (mentioned in previous post) in case I am low and cannot get to snack bar in time, and always an emergency glucagon device.

So, before you drive check your sugar to make sure it's stable enough that you want need to check it constantly and keep snacks in case of an emergency.

    <span>

           While waiting for your new sensor to pair, it's important to change it at a time that you will be available to continue checking your phone. times like while at the beach, sleeping, or even before a meal aren't the best times because you don't have access to your number. try to avoid these situations but if there's an emergency, its understandable. make sure to check your number before the sensor change and check your sugar every 45 minutes manually to make sure you're in range and not too low or high. we don't want to have a scenario where your sensor warms up and you're 300 or 50.

            When I go out I like to bring a cute bag rather than my everyday one. whether it's dinner with friends, a party, or a night in the city, I like to switch it up. Since my bags are smaller than my everyday one, I tend to pack less in them than I usually do. I'll bring a glucose meter, finger strips, my blood test clicker, a few needles for it, an insulin shot with needles, a few alcohol pads, and a glucagon. If you're going somewhere where there's no food bring a small snack (I typically bring a
